Facial Cupping

Introduction to Facial Cupping
Facial cupping is an excellent form of non-invasive treatment that can work to minimize the effects of sun and environmental damage, and aging. It is completely safe to use since it does not involve surgery and long recuperation time, chemicals or any other potentially harmful and painful procedures. Further, it is more economical as against expensive creams and lotions that claim to remove the signs of aging, but may or may not be effective. Facial cupping has been used by many people across Europe, Russia and Asia and is found to be very effective in eliminating wrinkles and lending a smooth, texture to the skin.
How it Works
Facial cupping is done using customized cups that are specifically designed for treatments on the face, neck and upper chest. The reverse suction that is applied works to gently lift the facial tissues. This results in massaging of the tissue because of which blood circulation and the draining of the lymph nodes is stimulated. As a result, the tissues receive a fresh supply of oxygen and nutrients; and waste from the cells, and other harmful toxins, and substances are eliminated. Excess fluid is also drained and the facial muscles relax with the movement of the suction cups.
Beauty Benefits of Facial CuppingThe effects brought about by the cupping can have several aesthetic benefits that work on both, dry and oily skin. Here’s how:
  • Drainage of fluid in the lymph glands results in reduced edema and puffy appearance.
  • Better nutrition brought to the skin helps bring a young glow to the skin. Any beauty products used post-treatment are absorbed better and are more effective.
  • The lifting motion reduces the visible fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring because of injuries or acne. The skin also looks plumper. Further, the connecting tissue under facial skin is stimulated so that it heals and reduces smile and laugh lines.
  • Massaging movements help relax tense facial muscles resulting in a softer, younger appearance.
Therapeutic BenefitsFacial cupping is helpful to patients suffering from a range of ailments related to the head and neck area without the need for more extensive treatments. They are:
  • Sinus infections or sinusitis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Facial paralysis
  • Earaches
  • Conditions in which there is jaw pain and movement of the jaw is hampered, also known as TMJ

Cupping

We are all seeing it with the Olympics on TV. Cupping has been around for centuries, it is a form of soft tissue manipulation.  It lifts the fascia and stagnant blood from the muscle.  Fascia is like a rubber band that encapsulates the muscle.  By lifting this we are allowing the muscle to breath per say, expand and rejuvenate or just relax.  There really is no other way to lift the fascia than cupping.  Cupping also pulls the blood from the muscle allowing fresh new blood to enter thus rejuvenating the muscle even more.  As with anything it may not be for everyone.  In our world today we have been inundated with pills and chemicals, more and more we are finding out that they may not be the best for us and more and more of us are looking at natural ways of healing and re-leaving our pain.  Cupping goes back to ancient Chinese medicine as do oils massage, herbs etc.  I have attached a link with more information.  If you are thinking about trying it please feel free to contact me and we can find what would work best for you.
Have a Blessed Day,
Karla

Continuing Education & Alaska

I recently attended continuing education aboard a Alaskan Cruise Ship.  It was the most wonderful experience. Not only did I get to meet some wonderful new colleagues and learn awesome new techniques I got to do it in such an amazing setting. Alaska is truly breathtaking.  There were no words to describe some of it.  To be able to take such amazing technology as a cruise ship into the most beautiful waters was truly magical.  Nature at its finest.  We unfortunately did not see any large whales, we did see some smaller ones. Had a bald eagle give us an amazing show right off our balcony and saw several seal's and sea-lions and a quick glimpse of a black bear on the narrow gauge train ride in Skagway.
I am now have my professional level certification in medical massage and am able to take insurance.  I'm sure insurance will be a bit of a learning curve so be patient. I am excited for this new adventure in my career and look forward to sharing it with you.

What Your Massage Therapist thinks of your Body

I have encountered many who don't want to get a massage because of "their body"  and this saddens me.  Massage is therapy period.  We are not there to look at your body in any other way than professional.  Trust me, when you are on the table we are focused on muscle and fascia.  I recently came across this article and it puts it exactly the way I would.  So please read.  I hope it will change the minds of some who are hesitant to enjoy the many benefits of massage.
